Our Emotions Matter

Artist Lisa Hilton sculpting in her studio

Emotions are intimately tied to our personal stories. These emotions are incredibly important as they connect us to ourselves and others.

Consider how your emotional response to your own stories have shaped you.

Therefore, as an artist, how can I create if I’m not wholeheartedly striving to build a tangible connection to our innermost feelings, stories and paths forward?

Being an introvert, I often struggle with acknowledging my emotions. Perhaps you can relate to this as well.

I've come to believe that we should all try to improve in this regard. Constantly filling every moment to avoid confronting our emotions can result in neglecting self-care, hindering personal growth, and forming weak emotional connections, while ignoring our feelings can readily lead to a lack of self-awareness.

What if we chose to celebrate our emotions and stories rather than avoiding or suppressing them?

My hope is that these sculptures serve as a means to achieve this. I've designed them as a visual bridges, aiming to deepen your connection with yourself. I hope that they will resonate with your emotions and your unique journey, fostering a more profound connection with yourself and others in your life.

…I like sculpture that speaks to me. I saw one of her works while touring a gallery, and it not only spoke to me—it was more like a shout. I acquired the work, and it is prominently displayed in our home. It is unique and has a message of deep meaning. Without exception, visitors to our home ask about it when they see it.Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Surrounding yourself with reminders to embrace your story is a powerful expression of self-love. Some may doubt it, but handmade objects possess an intangible yet irreplaceable creative energy. Art, believe it or not, has the capacity to speak to your soul in a unique way every time you look at it.

I’m in love with Wild Thing!! She’s the main attraction on my living room’s cocktail table … I see her everyday and brings me so much joy. I’m so happy you created her and that we found her!

Wild Thing to me represents “entrega” … in English it means to GIVE IT YOUR ALL … and that’s how I approach my life.

Thank you for creating such beautiful and meaningful pieces of art. You’re amazing! I’m so happy our paths crossed!!

My Mission

I have spent the last ten years in dialogue with clay. During that time, I gravitated towards the human figure. I believe that my personal journey, which has included a lifelong exploration of the mind-body connection through activities like dance, yoga, and Pilates, has deeply influenced my drive to express my emotions through sculpture. My mission is to create sculptures that serve as a means to connect my work with people, their stories, and their emotions.

My Quality Expectation

My priority is creating one-of-a-kind hand sculpted pieces while also maintaining high standards of craftsmanship. I believe the time and effort I spend sculpting is a form of prayer for the individuals or families welcoming these works into their homes.

For a small sculpture featuring a single figure, I typically spend three to six hours of hands-on work time. This doesn’t include time to allow the clay to “rest” in order for me to moderate moisture levels. In many cases, I also construct supports to prevent delicate parts from slumping or cracking during firing.

Once the sculpting phase is complete, the piece undergoes multiple kiln firings each lasting approximately twenty-four hours. Once all the firings are complete, I create a distinctive wood base for each sculpture. This base not only enhances the piece’s presence and stability but also serves as protective surface to prevent any damage to furniture.
