Clouds

Cloud No. 1 | 10” x 11.5” x 7.5” | Clay, Glaze, Acrylic

The first resolved piece in an ongoing exploration of cloud forms in clay.

Clouds are such an ethereal part of our everyday lives. They are constantly changing and moving, familiar yet transitory, and they have always fascinated me. The desire to create a sculpture inspired by these remarkable forms had been percolating in my mind for many years. In 2026, I finally created the time and freedom to pursue that interest.

The challenge is to use a dense material to suggest lightness, movement, and impermanence. Through experimentation with form, texture, and surface, I am exploring how to capture the essence of a cloud while leaving room for viewers to bring their own experiences and meaning to the work.
